Artist Research - Joel Sternfeld

An interesting subject from New York City where an abandoned railway line has been claimed by nature, surrounded by the rising buildings. This series shows the power of human kind to alter the course of history for nature in terms of how land is used depending on our needs at the time. There are some strong tonal colours featured in this image despite the overcast, dull day in which it was shot on, I also think the sky is too blown out, with more detail required if prints are to be made. When editing my RAW files I will have to ensure that I control the highlights so that they do not print as pure white on the paper, and also control the image's colours through the appropriate colour pre-sets.
